The Taylor Big Baby BBT is a no frills, well-built and great sounding instrument. It has some ingenious design features and sounds better than almost all guitars in its price range. The Big Baby is perfect for somebody wanting a good quality entry-level or a professional instrument, that is easy to travel with and more portable than a full-sized acoustic. The Big Baby BBT is an affordable offering from this high-end guitar manufacturer.
HAVEN’T HEARD OF THEM? BUT TAYLOR’S GOT A TAYLOR.
Taylor Guitars have been building high quality acoustic instruments in California, USA since 1974. Over that period of time they have deservedly earned the reputation of a builder of high quality instruments. With artist endorsees ranging from Eric Clapton and Dave Gilmour to Bryan Adams and Dave Matthews, they must be doing something right.
AS LIGHT AS A FEATHER AND AS SMOOTH AS A BABY’S BUTT
The Taylor Big Baby BBT has a super tasty mahogany neck: ebony fretboard, spruce top and sapele laminate back and sides. It features a bolt on neck system that Taylor calls the NT (new technology) neck. This means neck resetting is a very quick, and an inexpensive process if required. The NT neck system on the Big Baby BBT is the same one that is on higher end Taylor models.
Another great feature of the Big Baby BBT is the curved laminate back. The curvature on the back of the guitar eliminates the need for internal bracing and keeps the cost of manufacturing this instrument lower without compromising its tone. The Big Baby has a full-scale neck length of 25.5 inches, but the body is smaller than a full-size acoustic. It features a very playable 15 inch neck radius, which means no fretting out on those bigger bends. The matt, no frills finish on the neck and body of this instrument only adds to its playability. The neck is fast for an acoustic, and only as wide as your average electric guitar neck at 1 11/16 inches. It really is a fun guitar to play.
